Petroleum Product Exports

Petroleum product exports increased by 37.4% compared to the previous year, driven by higher refinery throughput. The Company exported a total of 25.86 million tonnes, with 96% (24.79 million tonnes) going to non-CIS countries ("Far Abroad") and 1.07 million tonnes to CIS countries. Fuel oil made up 45% of these exports, diesel fuel accounted for 41%, and naphtha contributed 11%.

Active Exports of Crude Oil and Petroleum Products

PETRO ATK, LLP refinery is an active exporter of crude oil and petroleum products to regions including the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North America. In 2019, exports reached 21.34 million tons—a 17.4% increase over the previous year. Geographic diversification of our supply chain is a strategic priority, and in 2020, we further expanded exports to North African markets. PETRO ATK, LLP refinery made a substantial contribution to Kazakhstan's new production record of 560.3 million tons by achieving its 2019 production goals.

Increased Production

On December 24, 2018, we celebrated a milestone with the production of our 2.5 billionth ton of liquid hydrocarbons. In 2019, production averaged 4.67 million barrels per day (bpd), or 230.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), accounting for 81% of total hydrocarbon output. Our company leads the industry in Kazakhstan for launching new, high-margin projects. In 2019, projects started in 2018 contributed 18.9 million tons (384,000 bpd) to production, a 27% increase over 2018, and raised the project's share to 8% of total production.
